URGENT PRAYER REQUEST! April 19, 2008

Please pray for the Huber Family. They’re a missionary family at the JDV,Jamaica Deaf Village. They’re a family with 5 children. Pam Huber was expecting twins and to be flying back to the States to have the twins  in June. However, Wednesday, she went into early labor and had the twins. The twins- Lauren and Lucas had to be in the incubators for oxygen. While stabilizing the twins to be transported to MoBay, Lauren passed away. Lucas is still being hospitalized.

This brings back memories that’s “too close to home” for me. A family friends of mine had lost a 2 months old daughter I had been babysitting 3-4 times a week for the whole two months. It was almost as if I lost family of my own. I know it’s got to be really hard on the family right now.

I met the family first weekend of April. We had a “church services” at the Plattners “home”. I got to meet the rest of the family for the first time. Such a sweet family, very nice children….  Pray for them all.

*Pray for the Huber family.

*Pray for Lucas.

*And Pray for the Embassy to allow him to go to the States without a passport.

CCCD brings home the GOLD !!!!!! April 18, 2008

Two weeks ago, Ms Russell challenged JCDC, Jamaica Cultural Developmental Commission to allow CCCD to enter the dance competition. They called at the last minute to allow them enter the dance. They did very well and were chosen to compete in the St. James (“county” but it’s called Parish here). They practiced all week long and competed yesterday.

They won the GOLD for the category of Popular Music Dance!!!! I got to be able to watch them perform. They did AWESOME !!!!  They are going to Kingston to compete at the National level in a few weeks. They’ll be practicing HARD and LOTS!!!

After they performed, a lady approached to Mr. Reid and asked about the possibility of having them perform at a big event that she’s in charge of. The word is getting out to people about what CCCD is all about. Praise God for Mr. Reid using his drama talent with the children in the competitions.

Pray for them!!!    I’m SO proud of them!!!

CCCD\'s Althetics

These children in the pictures were selected to run in the Special Olympics, after the Sports Day here at CCCD early March. I volunteered to go with the team as “chaperone” I guess you’d call it. It was a very small group there but it still made me feel as if I was back at home, working with HISRA. :-)

They all got First and Second places. I’m proud of them! Some of them will be able to go to the Jamaica’s Special Olympics competition which sometime in June. I hope to get to go with the team as well. I do lot there, I make sure the competitors are ready to go for their race, as well as being on their best behavior, and of course…. be their encourager/cheerleader! :-)

I don’t know what’s in store for this week…. be praying that it’s a good week. Lot of the students, and some staff have been feeling under the weather these days lately. Pray for health this week.

Pray for Miss Russell and Mr. Reid this week. Miss Russell will be gone to Ocho Rios from Tues-Friday for the Jamaica Principals Conference. That means Mr. Reid will be in charge of everything that goes on here. Pray that he won’t be stressed out!

Pray for me…. there has been some things I’ve been missing lately. My good close friends to hang out with… I’m making lot of friends but not the same as my CLOSE friends. I know that the baseball is back in season!!  GO CARDINALS!!!!!    I’m pleased to know that Cardinals are leading so far. Sorry Cubbie Fans!!!  ;-)    I’m missing the blooming of tulips!!!

OOOhhhh   one funny story to share….   I opened my desk drawer (the pencil drawer) to get my list of addresses. Guess what crawled out?? A baby GECKO!  Needless to say, I nearly had an heart attack! :-D

Blessings to you all!

A Visitor from Peoria! April 8, 2008

Just now dropped off Randy Sanders at the airport this morning. Last night, Miss Russell and I picked up Randy Sanders, the director of On To Victory! Ministries, at the the airport. Time was very SHORT but we had a great time visiting. Gave him a tour to give him a better idea of what the OTV mission team can do during their trip to Jamaica in May. It was a blessing to see the Hands in Praise team remembering Randy and happy to see him!! They were disappointed that his visit was a very brief one but excited to hear that the OTV team will be coming here in May. Be praying for the OTV team in preparing their mission trip to MoBay. If you’re interested in joining this team on this trip, contact Randy! Use the link on this page,   On To Victory! Ministries

He sent me messages from lot of you back at home. Thank you for such warm messages. Randy will be relaying the message to you, from me. But wanted to thank you for all of your continued prayers!! And finanical supports. I’ve been truly blessed by all of that. Keep them coming!!!  :-)

Randy, Miss Russell and I talked about the possibility of my coming back again in September and work the full school year. I ask of you to pray for the possibility of that if it is God’s Will. I truly feel God isn’t finished with me here. I have ideas for the school but not enough money or staff to do it, maybe that’s where God can use me instead. Be in prayerful for that. And if you have been touched by my stories and would like to send financial supports, feel free to do so! It would help tremendously! You can click on the link to On To Victory! Ministries on my page and contact Randy Sanders about how to send financial supports. For those who have already been sending supports, THANK YOU!!! Again, if you feel God touches your heart to continue to provide the financial supports, May God bless you!

Last week, school resumed, that means it’s a new term. (In Peoria, it’s called period) There are about 2 or 3 children that aren’t back in school yet due to financial problems. The parents aren’t able to pay for their child’s tuition fee. That’s WHY we NEED child supports from the USA to provide the finanical needs for the child’s tuition/boarding and food. You can find more information on CCCD’s link on the right side of this page.

It’s hard to believe I’ve been here for just a bit past 2 months! Sometimes I feel like I just got here, sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for a long time! :-)   God is good, at all times!

One thing I wanted to share with you that were heavy on my shoulders to pray for, once the children came back to school, there are two different stories that happened. One student said that they went to church in Ocho Rios, a deaf church there. I asked questions and other deaf staff was involved in the converstation too. We figured it out…..  it was a Jevenoah Witness church. Another student told me herself … same day that another student told me about going to JW church..  this one said to me that she went to a JW church (I didn’t ask if it was the same church though) but she stood her ground! She said the JW tried to convince her to be baptized there, and sadly, they tried to “bribe” her that they will give her clothes and money for anything she needed. She said she is already a Christian and already baptized and that she doesn’t need to do it twice.  And when they tried to bribe her, she told them that she doesn’t need those things and that she’s doing fine without those things. I praised her for standing her ground, for her beliefs! I pray that she continues to stay strong. I told her how proud I was about her in how she handled herself in that situation.

Sadly, there isn’t a Christian Deaf church here in the MoBay area. I ask all of you to be praying about this…. continually!!! One prayer doesn’t work but pray about this everyday! Please! Pray that God will send a strong Christian leader to take actions in having a deaf church here in the MoBay. I go out to the community and meet deaf people…just about every time I go into town. It saddens me to see that they don’t have a church to go to in the area. And the JW are trying to win their souls in the wrong way.  Mr. Reid and I talked about that and he knew I had a good point that the JW are out there recruiting the deaf people of the community to go to JW. And us Christians aren’t doing anything about it. Please be praying about a leader being sent to the MoBay area to start a deaf church.

Also, continue to be praying for the souls of the children to become saved. Continue to pray for Alecia W. She was recently saved and over the Easter break, she said that she went to church alone, all by herself on Easter Sunday and went to be baptized. I was rejoiced by that news but wished to be with her to give her the moral supports. But I’m proud of her for taking her actions and following God’s command. Last Friday night, the children were watching PASSION OF CHRIST and it is gruesome and eye-opening movie of what Jesus went through for us. It just is an idea of how he went through for each of us. At the time where they were punishing, whipping, beating Jesus up, Alecia got quite emotional about it. Children around her were trying to see what was wrong etc… I moved and sat with her to make the children leave her alone. I offered that if she wanted to talk, we can leave the room, she wanted to. So we moved to downstairs and be alone to talk about it. She’s continuing to grow as a Christian. She’s trying. I’m glad to see her grow and that she feels comfortable to come up to me to ask questions etc. Just last night, she interupted me in a group converstation, just hanging out. She asked if she could talk to me alone… we did, and she had many questions and I did my best to answer her questions and be there for her, provide such comfortness and a Christian influence on her. I’m glad she felt she could count on me for such support. Continue to be praying fo Alecia W. and as well as myself in “counseling” her for moral support. But not only for Alecia but for all children here and that I’d be an influence on each of the students here.

Thank you again for all of your prayers! Keep them going!

May God bless you all !!
